A Word from Anna

My older brother Phil called to tell me that he had a job for me that didn’t pay anything and that I couldn’t turn down: I was going to be an aunt! I wanted to do something special for my first niece or nephew, and racked my brain trying to figure out what it could be. Just before I fell asleep, I found enough clarity to grasp for a pen and scrawl something on a tissue box on my nightstand. In the morning, I awoke to a message from my near-dreaming self: “baby book.”

I told my fiancé Trey about it the next day, and we started tossing around ideas for a personalized ABC book that would encompass everything this baby would need to know. As we laughed about the possible items to include, we were certain that a professor and a writer could provide the new baby the best “lessons” in childhood education.

After months of tinkering with the text and images, we told a few friends and family members about the book, and they pushed us to consider printing more than a single copy for Phil and Geraldine. We were asked for so many copies for friends of friends that we decided Phil, Geraldine, and baby Isabelle weren’t the only people who would benefit from a book of ABCs about living the good life.

C is for Country Club: The Affluent Alphabet was immensely fun to write, and we hope you enjoy it. Giving children an even bigger head start in life is priceless, so this book makes a great holiday or baby shower gift for those who have (almost) everything.
